About the Kimount Club
The Kimount Club was opened in 1941 in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. It was the first purpose built club in Western Canada and constructed to specifically serve as a Boys and Girls Club facility. The club is equipped with a gamesroom, arts and crafts rooms, teen room, a large gymnasium, multi-purpose room and kitchen.
Services/Programs
We believe that children and youth need support, encouragement and direction. Our goal is to provide preventative and developmental services to children, youth and their families within the Mount Pleasant community. The Kimount Boys and Girls Club is a place for friendship, informal guidance and activities for children and youth. The Club encourages the physical, educational, character and skill development of each member through recreational and social activities. In addition to offering regular Boys and Girls Clubs programs (after school, nutrition, sports, arts and crafts, etc.), the Kimount Club also operated as a Kidsafe site, offering kids from nearby schools an opportunity to safe programs including pick-up and nutrition.
Membership
Membership is $25 per year. No child is turned away because of their inability to pay. We value and actively promote diversity to reflect the cultures of our community in our programming, membership and staff. Our intent is ensure equal opportunities for all children, youth and adults, regardless of age, race, color, gender, creed, visibility, religious belief, sexual orientation or national origin.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. There are over 1,200 individuals each year, who give of their time, skills and knowledge to help the clubs ensure that the needs of our young people are being met. Rental Facilities
The gym and multi-purpose room are available for rental at reasonable rates. The gym is rented for sports events only. For rate information and available dates and times, please call 604.874.0117.
UPDATE
Kimount's New Music Program

Kimount has recently started an evening music program so kids can experience the magic of being able to play an instrument. This wonderful program came to be when a caring community member, Gary Stephens, approached the Club with a vision. He had started guitar lessons as an adult and fell in love with it and wanted to provide children with the same opportunity.
Mr. Stephens has generously offered to support this new music program by purchasing instruments and assisting with recruiting qualified volunteer music instructors. The structured lessons will take place when our after-school programs are finished for the day. To start with, the kids will be learning the guitar, keyboards and vocals.
Music is a skill that children can use and enjoy for the rest of their lives and we are thrilled that we are able to offer them this program. |
