Our Philosophy

What is nexus?

• Nexus is a program that provides services to high-risk youth who are affected by substance abuse.
• We provide a wide range of services: individual counselling, crisis intervention, referrals, and drug/alcohol information and education.
• We also offer assessment and referral services to other programs such as detox and residential treatment.
• Our staff consists of youth counsellors with a special focus on alcohol and drug issues.
• We offer support in an attempt to empower youth to effectively deal with substance abuse issues.
• Nexus is a confidential service.

Who is it for?

• Youth who are concerned about their own substance use
• Youth who are concerned about their friend’s, or family’s substance abuse
• Family members or service providers who are concerned about a youth’s substance use

How do you access our services?

• Services are available to street-involved youth
• Youth can refer themselves or be referred by another service provider
• There is no fee for counselling services

When are we open?

Nexus workers are available Monday to Friday, including some evenings. They can be reached at the office or by cell phone

• Assistance to youth identifying specific goals and needs
• Help youth access existing support programs and alcohol and drug services
• Aftercare service
