Camp Potlatch

Each summer, over 1,000 kids take advantage of an opportunity to attend one of Canada's best wilderness camp sites: Camp Potlatch. Located in Howe Sound, British Columbia, Camp Potlatch is a picturesque camp characterized by 133 acres of densely vegetated forest and has 1.5 km of beautiful water front. Camp fees are on a sliding scale based on a family's ability to pay. For information on camp sessions and activities contact the Camp Registrar at 604.324.2267.

In 2005, the Canada Safeway Foundation launched the Safeway Sends Kids to Camp initiative that has provided meaningful camp experiences to over 1,500 children in Western Canada. This tremendous vision and outstanding commitment to children and youth has resulted in invaluable opportunities and life changes for kids across Western Canada.

Explorers Ages 7 – 9:
At Camp Potlatch we understand that this might be your child's first experience away from home. Our professional staff will ensure that your child receives the best that Potlatch has to offer through caring, fun-filled, and well-supervised activities. Come explore the Potlatch waters by canoe, sleep out under the stars, and test your archery skills! Find out what the Potlatch tradition is all about.

Path Finders Ages 10 – 12:
Through adventure and challenge, Pathfinders are encouraged to embark on journeys that will guide them into their teenage years! Pathfinders can achieve new heights on our rock wall, explore the Howe Sound by kayak, and venture into the heart of the Potlatch Valley. With a reputation for excitement and having fun, the Pathfinder experience is one that you will never forget!

Trail Blazers Ages 13 – 15:
Camp Potlatch recognizes that everyone needs a place where they can be themselves. Our staff take special care to consider the interests of all participants when planning each Trailblazer program. Rapelling, kayaking, and wilderness adventures are only a few of the possibilities! Join us in sharing your interests and building life-long friendships!

Adventure Camp Ages 15 – 16:
Imagine having the chance to stand on top of the world! This two-week program is for teens who are outdoor enthusiasts and who want to reach new limits in wilderness adventure. Adventurers will challenge themselves while learning the fundamentals of kayaking, rock climbing, ecology, hiking, and extended wilderness travel. Participants will experience two major out trips (by land and sea) and the importance of teamwork while living in the natural environment.

Leadership Camp Ages 15 – 17:
Three weeks spent in our leadership camp will define the years that follow! This co-ed program is for mature young adults who feel they have the capacity and drive to take on the challenges of personal and group achievement. If you are looking for a place where you can master your kayaking, rock climbing, and backcountry hiking abilities while developing effective communication, teamwork, and leadership skills, then camp potlatch is the place for you! Participants will be given an opportunity to put their new outdoor leadership skills to the test while co-leading (2 days) a camper cabin group on their own!
